Social Bandit Media is proud to announce the publication of a new title on Malcolm X in Gaza: A Colouring Book.

Malcolm X in Gaza is an educational coloring book that provides a gateway into the revolutionary leader’s little known visit to Gaza in 1964.

In a series of stunning illustrations, Soweto-based Nathi Ngubane traces Malcolm’s travels across Africa and the Middle East, as well as his historic two-day visit in Gaza, during which he visited refugee camps, toured the mosques and the markets, and listened to the stories of Palestinians who had been displaced by the Nakba.

The book comes from the same team that produced the best selling From The River To The Sea: A Colouring Book that drew ire of Zionists in both Israel and South Africa for its bold depiction of the story of Palestine.

The stories in this book draw from a variety of sources on Malcolm X, including his biography and his little-known travel diary of 1964.

But some of the more stunning details of his visit was derived from the memoirs of the famed Palestinian poet, Harun Hashim Rashid, who spent time with Malcolm during his visit in Gaza.

The illustrations in this book are based on some of the photographs from the time, as well as Nathi’s interpretation of Malcolm’s interactions in Gaza based on the evidence we have.

Malcolm X in Gaza is slated for release in the United States (with 1804 Books) and in South Africa (in partnership with Baitul Hikmah, Digniti, & Penny Appeal South Africa).

A portion of proceeds from sales in South Africa will be donated to Penny Appeal SA’s Palestine projects.
